What we were not afraid of: cold water, quarantine restrictions, long road and other troubles - the start took place. And it went almost perfectly, because the water warmed up to 20+ degrees, the storm and hail covered the whole country, not only affecting Skadovsk. Jellyfish were tiny, dolphins were bombastic. And the last athlete did not have time to leave the hotel, as the temperature dropped to 14C, and on Monday the downpour began.
And why? Because Neptune, Poseidon and Skadovsk City Council were with us. With a large company, we guessed at everything that was at hand, conjuring good weather. And coziness, hospitality and comfort were provided by our best friends Cozy Hotel, "Yefimov and Partners".
All known and unknown cities of Ukraine gathered at the start. A huge caravan of Chameleon club and Team404 cars stretched from Kharkiv. But the participants arrived from Kyiv by rail. Our old dream came true, and we helped Pasya Team to occupy the whole car of Ukrzaliznytsia. Mafia Swim Team also preferred the train. And what is very positive ... finally, the transfer to the starting point worked.
The day before, after a safe and convenient registration with our partners, the eyes and hearts of the participants were chained to the weather forecast, which promised "ass-mother" on the day of the start. And we were ready for this, because this time professional rescuers and the Skadovsk Navy were on duty on the water: the Kherson Oblast Police Water Department, the Skadovsk District Sector of the State Emergency Service, the Regional Maritime Guard Department, and the Maritime Search and Rescue Service. And this is not to mention the 10 boats from the berth "Amateur". At that time, the Skadovsk District Police Department, 2 ambulances and medical specialists were waiting on the stock exchange. "In the pocket" of almost every swimmer was insurance from the Insurance Company "PROVIDNA", and on the belt - a buoy UNITED ATHLETES.
Together we have increased the number of boats by 3 times by 2020. The number of buoys also tripled ... but the wave and wind increased even more and scattered the buoys like dandelions in Dzharilgatsky Bay. We found one of them at a distance of 4 km from the distance, the other was repulsed by the natives from the southern shores, who had already managed to carry it to the sacrificial stone. It was very funny and a little sad to see that absolute calm was established during the transportation of participants to the island. Thank you, weather ... it's good that at least Well, and then we improvised with boats. Somewhere it worked, somewhere it didn't. Secondly, the marking has become our curse ... but a good gunner must hit the target with the third shot, so we are waiting for 2022
Everyone returned to shore healthy, and that's the main thing. Konstantin Ukradyga from Podolskiy Swimming Team was the first to come from 8 km, although he gave up the 1st place, almost forcing us to review the protocols. We, of course, were led to it ... in the last, of course. Only 3 minutes later came Anna Kozhura from the tribe of turtles Pasya Team - the first among the girls.
Representatives of Mafia Swim Team - Mikhail Kobizhcha and Iryna Ozeryanska were the first to finish in 2 km.
The children fought to the last. The boys lined up in the following order: Konstantin Vasilkovich from Hippocampteam, Luka Yavorsky, Kyrylo Maksymchuk, and the girls: Valeria Pronenko, Maria Shashina, Arina Ozeryanska from Mafia Team. We received quite clear feedback that the children deserve the medals of the winners, not just the finishers ... which we will do at the next start ... "We reduced the price to UAH 390 in vain," we thought. We will have science
Well, then there was a contract (joke) with the relays ... because the clubs literally shared the medals: MIX took Pasya Team, MALE - Mafia, and FEMALE - Kharkov chameleons (who basically do not create a page in Facebook, so that no one, God forbid) , did not pull).
After the finish, everyone was restored and replenished the water balance with the help of Morshyn.
This year we were very much helped by volunteers from local Lighthouse assets and the women's club "Experiment", led by the cool Artem Kostiuchenko and Lyubov Vander.
